Thousands of people have drowned attempting to cross the Mediterranean Sea, and many who survive require urgent medical care for illness or injury but have no access to health services. Médecins Sans Frontières/Doctors Without Borders (MSF) works on the migration routes along which many people travel, providing essential aid for those most at risk, and intervening with large-scale rescue operations for migrants attempting to cross the Mediterranean in unseaworthy boats.

MSF provides lifejackets to people during the rescue at sea before they are transferred to the rescue ship. With self-righting capacity this lifejacket provides buoyancy, visibility and keeps the head supported above water.
